There has been a lot of talk in recent years about the importance of green jobs to the economy. Part of this is due to the fact that during the recent economic crisis, green collar jobs were one of the few sectors that actually saw growth when most other industries lost jobs. Supporting the green economy today helps build green jobs for tomorrow, just as more colleges and universities are graduating students with degrees in environmental engineering and alternative energy technologies.

California solar companies make up a significant chunk of green jobs in this country. The state is in the forefront of nurturing alternative energy research and installation. They have an extensive, multi-year program of incentives for residents to convert their homes to solar power. As a result, the solar industry in California is one of the largest in the world, surpassing not only all other state, but also many countries in the number of jobs created as well as the dollar amount generated by those companies.

Other states have started to follow the example of California. While some states will be limited in their ability to offer similar programs, due to less hospitable climates or not having the funds available for investment, others are moving forward to develop their own incentives. Where possible the success of the solar model in California can be applied to other energies, such as wind power. Now that it has been proven that incentives work both in convincing home owners to switch power sources and in creating green jobs, there’s no reason to stop with solar.

The most confusing thing for someone riding a motorcycle cross country is navigating the seemingly insane patchwork of helmet laws. Cyclists have to know the law for every jurisdiction they plan to traverse — or they can just do what they want and hope no one stops them. The latter, however, is hardly a legally responsible plan of action. Should they find themselves the victim of an accident, they may still be held liable for their own injury even if the accident was the fault of another vehicle. This is why it’s so important, if there’s an accident in Florida, to consult with a motorcycle accident injury attorney. Fort lauderdale , Miami, Orlando, and other cities all have experienced lawyers that can help understand how local helmet laws apply.

Most states now require the wearing of a helmet by the rider and passenger of a motorcycle. However, there are variations in the degree of liability in case of an accident and even more variations if the accident results in injury or death. Some state require additional protective gear in addition to helmets, which makes it all the more confusing for anyone who likes to take to the open road on their motorcycle for days or weeks on end.

Studies have proven that wearing a helmet can significantly decrease the chance of brain injury during an accident. However, few riders believe that an accident will apply to them. When the potential legal and financial liabilities are combined with the fines associated with breaking the law, perhaps the best thing is to just wear a helmet at all times.

Children quickly outgrow their nurseries and start demanding, as only a toddler can, that they are ready for a “big kids room” long before most parents are ready to invest the time and money in redecorating. Those parents who think ahead will have designed the baby’s room to be easily adapted to an older child, by choosing colors, furniture, and other design elements that weren’t baby-specific. All they have left to do is switch the crib for a child’s bed.

For those who have to completely redo the room to suite the child’s growing needs will want to focus on two things. The first is safety. Growing kids have longer legs and arms and, therefore, a longer and higher reach. Things that were safely out of baby’s reach are now, or soon will be, in the grasp of an active child. When installing shelving, tall furniture and even window blinds, the safety hazards need to be considered and designed around.

The next important element to consider is cost. The last thing a parent wants to do is start a cycle of redecorating for every stage of the child’s development. Choosing durable, sturdy furnishings and fixtures as well as making the design less age-specific will ensure that a child stays comfortable with the room for longer than a year a two. This means resisting a toddler’s plea to make everything look like their current favorite toy or cartoon character. It also means looking around for second-hand furnishings or finding land of nod coupons online to reduce costs.
